My marble Motoro has been acting weird so I decided to check the water and the ammonia was at 2! I freaked out and did a 50 percent water change. I'm really worried. The tank has been running for two years so I know it's not because it's not cycled. Before I got the ray, I had fish that didn't produce as much waist so could it be possible that I just shocked the system when I added the ray? If so, will he survive and is there anything else I should do? The tank is a 120, it's filtered by an xp3 canister and I do a 50 percent water change every other week. The ray is an 8 inch male marble Motoro
What should I do and will he survive?
Thanks!

The bacteria wasn't built up to support the ray bioload...Are there other fish in the tank? If so you will need more filtration and because it's a small tank things will get worse faster then if you had a bigger tank. You need to up the water changes to at least every 3 to 4 days as 50% every other week won't cut it. I ran into a similar problem with my 230 gallon but it was nitrates and not ammonia when adding a pregnant female to a 230 gallon tank with only a couple fish. I now have 2 FX-5's on the tank along with 2 HOB aquaclear 110's and do water changes every 4 days and this is on a 230 gallon.

Are you eventually putting the ray into a bigger tank?

Ok, thanks guys
I added another cycled xp3 from another tank and did a 20% water change this morning and the amonia has gone down to 0.75.
Before the ray, i just had a pair of trimacs

The ammonia has gone down to 0.5 and he's acting a little more normal except his tail is starting to curve upwards slightly

Wouldn't hurt to do 40-50% a day for several days, bring the parameters under control asap. I have a 4x2x2 with a trio of Hystrix in, fairly young Hystrix, but I do this wc daily religiously to ensure as much as poss my water is good. It's a grow out tank bth
