Ok i'm gunna try to make this as short as possible. 2 days ago my G/F was feeding my aro, cuz she was bored and was feeding him market shrimps. After the second one he ate he looked like he was choking (as she discribed it) and he sank to the bottom of the tank and just sat there for about 10 minutes she knew this was not right and used the net to pick him off the bottom and he started to swim normally. Now he is acting very skidish, he will no longer eat from my hand, and he started to jump against the lid something he never did before and caused 2 very bad scratches on his head and left side. What should i do does he sounds stressed out? should i add in a stress coat to calm him down and help heal the scratches or should i just leave him alone for a few days and see what he does. He's about 11 inches long right now and is in a 75g tank. Any input would be appriciated.

add sum salt into the tank, should help

WELL FROM MY EXPERIENCE WITH SILVERS, THERE COMES A POINT WHERE THEY BECOME VERY SKIDDISH.I DON'T KNOW WHY. WELL THE ONLY THING I CAN RECOMMEND WOULD BE TO TAKE OUT ANYTHING HE CAN HIT OR SCRATCH HIMSELF WITH FOR A FEW DAYS. AND MAYBE HE'LL SETTLE DOWN. GOODLUCK MY FREIND..

silvers are jumpy, just add salt and when you change the water touch it more often lol,and do you have a bare tank?

add stress coat, subdue lighting, and take off wallpaper (if u have). if its a silver arowana, they will get stressed out and jumpy at some point. they want to be in their actual surroundings. wallpapers make their home seem smaller and they want to be able to get full view. oh yea and add salt to boost their electrolytes.

Silvers are naturally jumpy, nothing special. Does your g/f feeding your aro alot? If not, your silver could be scared from that, as whenever someone new that they dont regularly see walks by, they might flip out. You should NOT have touched him with that net, that would've scared him bad. Theres no need for stress coat, just add some salt. The less you add to your tank, the better.

Just leave him alone, keep the tank lights off but leave the room lights on. Keep traffic around the tank to a minimum. Don't try to feed the fish he will be fine without food and needs to get his appietite back. I don't know how often you do water changes but the tank should be able to go a week without.

You can add salt but personally Ive never seen it help any, same with adding the stress coat.

Give at least 4 or 5 days you should see signs of improvement by then.
