Does he have fin-rot? He was really hurt when packaging and putting moving him into the other tank. some scales came off and his mouth kinda got hurt. He ate some arowana pellets the 3 days ago, than 2 days ago he started to spit it out every time i fed. and yesterday I noticed the messed up fins on the tail and the mouth got whiter and worse. he isnt eating...anything. no shrimp or the pellets. Really scared now, is he gonna make it? Water parameters are perfect. I added 4 table spoons of salt. Water is perfect and is always kept perfect. 40g sump added as well. he is 17 inches. Should I keep the water changes and keep adding salts or go to medications? THANKS!

Looks more like damage from another fish to me, and the damage on the snout would also indicate that somethings been having a go at ti and its been trying to get away and hit the end or lid of the tank.

Clean water, regular water changes and increase temp. And obviously remove what ever has been stressing the fish. How big is the tank?

It might be the fact that he has to watch Obama all day! ;)

But seriously, water changes, and try a bit of melafix. Always helps my injured fish.

Wow that aro is really torn up. That is not fin rot, that is an injury but will need to be treated the same as fin rot. Clean water is the best remedy you need to do enough water changes to keep the nitrate levels under 10ppm. Do add either salt at 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons or pimafix and melafix at the recommended daily dosage on the bottle. Just don't do the recommended water change that the Pima/mela recommends.

Did you get this fish this way from a supplier? Or did you do this damage trying to move the fish? This recommended treatment is assuming you keeping is in an established cycled tank with no ammonia or nitrites. You should also have the temperature at 84-85 degrees. Don't worried about it eating as it will eat once it is healthy.
