Ok so I have a bunch of new convict cichlids. I know they're aggressive but my friend wants some. The thing is he said he has guppies and clowns. I dont think he meant clownfish, since those are saltwater and he says he has the "clowns" in freshwater tank with his guppy. Might he have meant clown loaches? If so, can he mix those two with a new little convict cichlid or two?

Or would the problems/setup differences be too great? I hope not, because I have a LOT of newbies.

And if he can, how many could he put in there?

i think the convicts may beat the other fish up, and may eat guppies when bigger

the gupppies will get eaten eventually and the clown loaches i think could be okay since there bottom dwellers

Thanks guys! I will definitely not give him any cichlids then. Are there any fish that do well with convicts?

Other cichlids of similar size or bigger (but not able to eat the convicts), who have similar agressiveness levels. Larger cyprinids. loaches, plecos etc. Even then, once they start breeding no one is really safe from that group.

I have a single male with a yellow Lab, a Texas, a bichardi, a few loaches and a rainbow shark.
