looking for the name of a cichlid. saw the scientific name on a old thread and looked up the fish it had a fluorescent green head.

the post was rare mbuna
someone answered in a sentence that was as long as this sheet is plus about 7 words then in order gave 3 rare mbuna like so
1. rare fish (think was the green on)
2. rare fish
3. rare fish

all of this was in scientific names
i did look on the sight and went back 50 pages please can any one tell me the thread or the name of the fish

Can't help you with the post or the name, but I can give you a link to a website that has a pretty extensive list of mbuna (and really all cichlids if you go to the main profile page).

This is for just mbuna:

This is if you want to look at other cichlids (african or otherwise):

Sorry if you have already looked there, just thought it was a good place to start if you hadn't seen it yet. Can also be a good resource when trying to decide on a stock list.

I agree, it does look photoshopped. No african cichlid has fluorescent colors that pop as much as that does.

The fish is supposedly a Otopharynx Lithobates "Green Head Rainbow"

I actually found the website the image was taken from and it says (after translating from Swedish I think) that it is "Digitally manipulated fantasy image: Otopharynx lithobates "Greenhead rainbow", 2006-03-25."

Here is the link if you want to look <http://www.pny.se/akvariedagbok/akvariedagbok30.php> The website is actually named "Fantasy Photos."

Yup, and thats the exact website I found the image on. I guess I should've read that. Definitely an altered pic. The colors of it are just unreal.
