My new Gulper Cat has some odd white coloration along the topside of it's head. It's not stringy, or ick. It also has 1 large (maybe half the size of a penny) white spot behind his gill, and the same size spot behind it's dorsal. Are these just markings? And the white near the head. Is that just

Thank you he's about 6" now, activity and behavior is perfectly is norm. no flashing, no stress and as gulpers do, he eats outta my hand =) Water is fine as well. I am going redo the decor shortly make it more a biotope. this was my Red tiger Motas Cube who I sold to get this lil dude.

looks like an infection.. bacterial or fungal idk.. but that is not normal.

ide try mela first then add pima if you dont see improvement in 24 hours. but ive never treated a gulper before so not sure how delicate they are. So ide prolly do a good water change and see if someone whos treated gulpers weighs in. or someone who can give you a positive ID if bac or fung.

I did dose of each. I am asking around on Predatory Fish Keepers as well.

They are sensitive fish but also really hardy is that makes sense. From my reading mela/pima isn't a big issue for gulpers as it's one of the less potent meds.

Thanks for your helps, anyone else with thoughts please chime in. Im determined to nip this issue quickly.

pima/mela ime is a potent combo. watch your o2 levels, and dont turn your heater up. if he starts gasping, do a water change asap. Ive lost fish in the past too accidental ODing.

and yeah alot of fish are delicate.. but sturdy lol.
