hello
please help me my flowerhorn is having hexamita he is not eating since 4 days and yesterday i noticed white poop
i started his treatment i m using this method
  1. Provide a hospital tank about 10gals. The primary purpose is for the ease of water changes to be perform daily and to save dosages for the expensive medication.
  2. Add simple filtration like sponge filter or aeration via air stone. Heavy filtration isn't necessary since no feeding will be done thus reducing biological load and ammonia level is expected to be low.
  3. Set the thermometer at 32C. The effectiveness of the metronidazole can be maximize at a higher temperature.
  4. You need to add half cup of aquarium salt. In the Philippines, most hobbyist use rock salt (without iodine) as an alternative to aquarium salt.
  5. Dissolve 500mg of metronidazole usually sold as flagyl forte in warm water (not boiling water). You can buy this on pharmacy as over the counter medicine so no need for prescription. If you think Flagyl is too expensive then ask for the generic drug. It is suppose to do the same effect unless the it is fake.
  6. Perform a 50% water change every day, and dose it with metronidazole after every water change. Replinish about 1/4 cup of salt daily. With salt, it helps to increase the osmotic pressure in the water allowing the absorption of the metronidazole through the gills of the fish. It also helps to sooths the natural slime coat of the fish.
  7. In the first 5 days of treatment, no food must be given. You can give it One pellet on the sixth day, if it eats its a good sign but Do Not Stop the treatment. Not yet. Only give a little amount of food up to the 10th day.
  8. On the 11th day do a 50% water change. Slowly reduce the temperature to 28C or whatever temp you like to keep you fish. This marks the end of the treatment.
  9. Once you are satisfied with the overall health of the fish, you can move it back to its main tank.


But instead of hospital tank i am treating in main tank itself.. it is a 12 gallon tank....... i have one question
1. when the first day i change water should i remove the previous medicine(flagyl)?
when i change water everyday how much more flagyl should i add? as the previous day medicine is already present in the tank
i add rock salt please help my flowerhorn is having hexamita...... today is thesecond day and i have added 500mg flagyl yesterday... and today i changed 50% water... and added 500mg flagyl again with 1/4 cup of salt.... so total there is 1000 mg flagyl in tank what shoul i do tommorow should i only change water? should i add 500mg flagyl everyday?
 
Firstly, the thing that pops out at me the most is the current tank size?! How big is your flowerhorn? I am concerned that the size of the tank may be the cause of the illness, I would think most of us would need to know a few details, with possible details....

Your tank is extremely small, how big is the FH?
How long has it been showing signs of hex?
When do you do your waterchanges?
How often have you been feeding?

I would also stress that many of the experts on here will advise you to post a picture of the fish and possibly its tank?

She is 4 inches
I change water weekly 50℅
She is been showing signs since 4days
She is extriemly active
I feed 6-7 pellets 2 times a day
Plz help me for tommorows water change should I add flagyl or just change water?
 
Hey guys! Today she layed eggs........
But there is no male present in the tank she layed eggs by her own?
As there is salt and medicine in the tank what should I do? Should I keep on doing the treatment? Or she was not eating because she had to lay eggs? What is this? Should I stop treatment? Hey please help guys! Should I remove the medicine and salt out of tank? Please help asap

at the moment there is no poop but 2 days ago there was white poop.... now also when i am offering her food she isn't eating...... what to do should i keep on doing treatment..... will these egss hatch? will the salt and metro present in tank affect the babies? please help as soon as possible
