IMG_1713.JPGIMG_1714.JPGIMG_1706.JPGIMG_1707.JPGI got a small flower horn about 4" from a store for a 1.00 they were going to put him down. His tail fin is very thin as you can see in the picture. I believe this to be fin rot . What is the best all purpose antibiotic I could use ? or is this tail issue something else. I have him in a 30 gal tank all by himself. he is eating like a monster and seem to be doing fine except for his tail . any and all help would be great :)

Pics not loading on my phone, but kanaplex by seachem is some good stuff. I have used it in the past after nasty cichlid fights.

What is the Ph of your water. Is the tank cycled?

tank is cycled .I have had it up and running for 3 years . he is in my quarantine tank which is a 30 gal tank. I am not sure of the ph in which the fish came from but ph in my tank is 7.8 never fluctuates in any of my tanks. nitrates 20ppm nitrites 0, ammonia 0. i just got him 2 days ago he is active and eats well . i should also mention he was in a tank all by himself at the pet shop so it is not a fighting injury

Dose with 1 tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons of water. Use API Triple sulfa.

lol i was just reading your response to someone else's
post like mine . i was on my way to get some triple sulfa. how often on the salt? i added some last night. i am going to start with another 50 % water change . so do i add more salt or should i let it be for now?

Maintane 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons. Replace what you remove via water changes. If you remove 20 gallons of water add back 4 tablespoons of salt.

ok .. thanks for the response . i hope i can turn this guy around. 1.00 red fader can't beat that. :) thanks Bro

Clean water good food and the 3X with salt and it'll be back to new in no time.
