Hello all and thanks for checking this thread for me. I have a texas cichlid that had what looked like an open wound a few days ago. Now it seems as if some fungus or something fuzzy and white is growing out of it.
If you could please help me diagnose it as well as what or how to treat him if possible. So far i put him in a hospital tank with some salt for tthe would and melifax for the fungus if that is what it is. However it has become worse over the last 2 days.

It looks like to me like a bacterial infection, I don't know if the first two pictures are of the original tank but it looks a bit yellow. I understand it could be the lighting but I would make sure the water in the main tank gets some treatment because it is where the original outbreak occured. How often do you do your water maintenance and what are you feeding and what are your perameters? and tank size.

It is bacterial infection, not fungal infection. Melafix will not help anymore as the wound is already infected. Try to either apply mercurochrome on the wound or combine Maracyn and Maracyn 2 in the hospital tank. Clean water is your best defense here.

Some of the yellow color comes from a piece of african driftwood i bought, the rest is a combination of lighting i was using for pics. I normally do water changes of 20-30% once or twice a week. Its a 92G tank with a rena xp3 which i dont think is pulling its weight anymore, im going to order some replacemnent parts or a new xp4 soon for the tank. Also the tank is over stocked and im working on fixing that issue.

I will go buy both, should i buy enough to treat the main tank as well as my hospital tank? I did a water change yesterday in the main tank and put new filters in the canister.

Keep spare bottles of antibiotics and treat only the hospital tank for now.

If you treat an entire tank with maracyn and maracyn2, will it harm the other fish?

It would be unnecessary and yes, you can potentially harm a healthy fish needlessly.
