the LFS guy told me they got this (Goby?) here, not exactly for sale at the fish store but I like to keep these fishes found locally here, please help me identify this fish, thank you!

Purple spot gudgeon, peacock gudgeons are much smaller and have different coloration.

thanks for the reply! this fish quickly became one of my favorites due to its appetite, its a very active hunter of guppies but it will also readily accept pellets! il buy more of this fish when i see them
