Please help ID this little guy

I picked up this little 1.5 inch fish from a lfs. He was in a tank of jack dempsys and getting beat up. The lfs owner said he didn't think it was a pure dempsy, but was unsure of what it was. His body is shaped like a dempsy. He has a tiger oscar color pattern and a oscar shaped head?Any help to ID this fish would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
