ok so one of my two biggest temensis (3.5") has overnight gotten alot of white spots (its kind of cottony) (i don't know if it is ick, whitespot, or anything else)

he/she was perfect yesterday and now i woke up to seeing this.

i added some aquarium salt and bumped up the temp in the tank.

water is
NITRATE 20
NITRITE 0
Hardness 300 (water here sucks)
Total Alkalinity 120
pH 7.2

please help my ID this disease and how you would treat it

thanks

i'm doing a water change as i speak (kinda)

Looks like fungus. Add a small dose of milafix.

i completely know what your talking about, had the same problem with my tems, just increase the temp to 29-30celcius, provide plenty of oxygen and add 1 table spoon of aquarium salt per 10gallons of water.

it will clear up with in 2 days

thx....... my "bleeping" heaters suck... thats what i get for trying to save some money by buying them at walmart..... i'll try to get another heater for that tank to see if it helps.

btw its not fungus or ich, i think its related to stress and water quality(including temp),
when my tems were at my lfs they constantly had this problem, i bought the fishes and treated them in 2day

so what does the tem have?

you dont need to add anything else just add salt it will not harm any of your other fish even theyr scaleless as ive stated a lower dose of salt, youl be fine.TRUST

yeah i think you're right cuz my little tem had this and he was barely coming out of hiding. now he's coming out more and doesnt have it as bad..... also whats odd if it is stress that this "big" tem comes out all the time and eats like a pig.

but i think its water quality/temp cuz the heaters all the way up only have it at 79 degrees F. i also remembered that i havent cleaned the canister filter in a while:(
