Hey Everyone,

I am new to the forum and new to this hobby. I got three baby peacock bass 1.5-2in yesterday and not sure if they are suppose to act this way. They look healthy and eating fine. When I am looking at my tank they get in this weird suspend position slopping downward towards the back of my tank. When I'm at a distant looking at my tank they are not is this position (normal). Is there a reason why they are doing this? Here is an picture of them.

Stressed. Give them time to Adjust to you and the tank.

Awesome thanks!

Another question.. I have my heater set at 78 (300watts) in a 60 gal tank, thermometer is reading 80 F. One person at the fish store say that is fine and the other person said set the heater at 82. I'm getting these mix answer. what should it be at?

I agree with the others......they arejust a bit scared and they will get over it. I keep my tank at 84-86 while they are babies

You should have an airstone in your tank so its airated well. And bump that temp up to 87 for sm cichla.

WHat are you feeding them? If your feeding live foods get em off that. Start feeding frozen blood worms. Then start crushing up pellets and mixn them up w/ the blood worms. This way they get the taste for pellets. Eventually you'll have cichla that eat pellets.

Any more questions just fire away.

Good to know that they are scared instead of being sick. Thanks!

Thanks gangster I will look into the airstone. Right now I am feeding them frozen bloodworms. What kind of pellets to you recommend brand etc. For sure, there will be more questions along the way.

Hikari cichlid bio gold is what i usually start my cichla on for pellets. Crush em up and add em to the mix. Is there only 2 cichla in there? A couple more would make them feel more at home :)

Cool, I will crush the pellets and add them to the mix. I have 3 of them and planning to add a tiger oscar today. I was afraid to get more because I know they will get big and I only have a 60 gal tank.
