Hi everyone, this my first time posting anything on this forum. I have respected the hell out this forum for years and have found invaluable information here so many times, I have much respect for this forum and its members, yall really know your stuff. Anyway, very short background on me I guess. I have been keeping fish my entire life, love this hobby, my favorite are cichlids, my favorite and primary thing I keep rn are ebjd followed by green terrors and a general affinity for the acara clan overall and have a small collection of different types. Anyway, I currently work as an aquatic specialist at a Petco. One time in the asst Molly bag a cichlid was in there. I thought it was a Hoplarchus psittacus, "true parrot", at first, from what I could see looked just like one. Now it about 2.5 inches and very obviously not one. I have a pretty good cichlid species catalogue in my brain, but I absolutely do not know what this guy is and was wondering if anyone could help me identify it. Also, I think I'm posting in right spot, but if there a better spot let me know. I'm posting the best pics I could get of the dude, I think they should suffice for identification, thanks yall!
