Hi everyone, this my first time posting anything on this forum. I have respected the hell out this forum for years and have found invaluable information here so many times, I have much respect for this forum and its members, yall really know your stuff. Anyway, very short background on me I guess. I have been keeping fish my entire life, love this hobby, my favorite are cichlids, my favorite and primary thing I keep rn are ebjd followed by green terrors and a general affinity for the acara clan overall and have a small collection of different types. Anyway, I currently work as an aquatic specialist at a Petco. One time in the asst Molly bag a cichlid was in there. I thought it was a Hoplarchus psittacus, "true parrot", at first, from what I could see looked just like one. Now it about 2.5 inches and very obviously not one. I have a pretty good cichlid species catalogue in my brain, but I absolutely do not know what this guy is and was wondering if anyone could help me identify it. Also, I think I'm posting in right spot, but if there a better spot let me know. I'm posting the best pics I could get of the dude, I think they should suffice for identification, thanks yall!20210127_212153.jpg20210127_212151.jpg20210127_211728.jpg

Krobia are often considered acaras, though not “proper” acaras like Cichlasoma/Aequidens/Andinoacara.

These aren’t the most common Krobia around, so it’s curious that it was in a mixed bag from a wholesaler. I wonder if they actually had them in stock on their list?

They did not, after researching them last night I really dont understand how that was in a Petco molly bag

Just an FYI, Kevin at Tangled Up In Cichlids has both K. itanyi and K. sp. Oyapock 2, which look very similar, on his stock list this week. They are a little pricey but uncommon and I figured I’d let you know in case you want to find some friends for your lone one.
