All my clown loaches were showing signs. I thought it was ich, so I treated for 5 days with no sign of improvement. I reduced temp to 80 degrees and added first dose of cupramine. image.jpg
Am I taking the right course of action and should my fish be okay? They are still eating good. I've just read that the death rate is high with this parasite.

Looks like ich. Raise your tank temperature to 86 and treat the tank with aquarium salt for a little more than a week. There is a sticky teaching how to do this in the diseases and illness section

I've had ich before and I've successfully treated it before by just raising the tank temp. I know CL's are sensitive to salt, so I chose not to add any. This seems different. I raised the tank temp to 90 for 5 days and it still didn't improve. It seems smaller and more clustered. This clown loach is only around an inch.

I forgot to half the dose for the copper solution. I know you are supposed to add another dose in two days, so will it be fine if I leave it as is for the two weeks or should I do a 50% water change to reduce the concentration?

Also, I can't find any concrete information on this paradise. There are websites saying its a yellow dust and others that say it is like a smaller more concentrated version of ich. Should I increase the temp back up again just in case it is ich, or will the cupramine take care of ich also?

Also I now see that adding prime can cause the cupramine to be toxic to fish. I did a 50% water change and added enough prime to treat the whole tank. Am I going to run into problems? Please help. I just got a tigrinus and a small black aro that I don't want to lose because of this.

Try seachem paraguard, this can get expensive since it has to be dosed everyday for 3 weeks.

I added some fresh carbon to the filter in order to remove the copper. I saw a little bit of odd behavior form some of the fish so I decided to postpone the copper medication, as I didn't want to risk losing my tigrinus and black aro. I'm going to keep the temp up for another week or so and see how this progresses. The clown loaches seem to be the only ones affected right now and I'm hoping this is just a severe, odd strain of ich. If not, I have the copper on hand and will properly dose it if needed.
