I got a moke, weeksii, and what is supposed to be a palmas palmas the other day. I asked if it was a polli or Butti, but he said Palmas. I just wanted to know what the experience keepers think. There are probably plenty of these threads so my apologies. I just don't have the experience to determine which it is....I know it is on light substrate and which may make it harder to ID. Any help would be appreciated folks! Heres a quick vid.

My Palmas palmas has thicker bands, kind of like thick dark bands found on a delhezi, and plus a green tint to the scales even in a bare bottom glass tank.

Like this one from another MFker

Would need a better side shot of the bichir.

Hi and thank you in the first vid correct?
Correct, the fish in the video of the original post is a Polli.
Also just an fyi, the Palmas "complex" doesn't really exist anymore. Scientist have reclassified "Palmas palmas" and "Palmas buettikoferi" as the same thing. (Although hobbyist still like to differentiate) So it's just Polypterus palmas now.
Polypterus polli is on its own as well. No longer "Palmas polli".

Yeah. Polypterus bichir lapradei and Polypterus bichir bichir doesn't exist anymore in the world of science. They are both considered Polypterus bichir. But of course, many hobbyists still choose to separate the two in terms of catch location; at least since they do not overlap in the wild.

I personally do not agree with this reclassification. I'm pretty sure they only studied Polypterus bichir "Nigeria" (Nigerian Lapradeis) and Polypterus bichir "Chad" (Chad PBB). As those two look similar to one another, especially to the untrained eye. Which makes me understand why they reclassified those. But what bothers me is that I believe they did not study any of the Polypterus bichir from Guinea (ie. Guinean Laps, Koloton/Koliba Laps) while making this reclassification. IMO Polypterus bichir from Guinea looks quite different from a Nigerian Lap/Chad PBB. I believe including them might have kept the 2 subspecies: bichir lapradei and bichir bichir but who knows.
