Two cichlids I can't identify:

This guy is supposed to be a male "blue hap". Electric blue, blue ahli, etc, I don't know. I'm not even sure he's male - he's about 3 1/2 inches and hasn't colored much if he is.

Second was supposed to be just an OB peacock. He is only a few months old and is already bigger than anything in the tank - and has no blotches anywhere. I have no idea if this is a male or female. Any guesses? IT IS A PIG. Eats everything.

He was black/white/and red when I bought him as a tiny baby, so I named him newspaper. He looks nothing like a newspaper now.

Also - the LFS has adult electric blue haps, and blue ahli haps - males. They look identical, and I don't think that's right. Is there a tell-tale difference between the two? One is supposed to be more aggressive, and I don't want that. Thanks

Correct, first is a Otopharynx Lithobates "Z Rock"! Very nice pickup!

Second looks to be a Oreochromis Mossambicus (Tilapia)...males of this specie will grow to about 18" while females grow to about 14"...hope you got a big tank :)

Thanks for the reply guys!

I got them at the little local fish store - they always have random unlabeled fish, it always looks like they just ordered 100 random cichlids and threw them in random tanks. They never match. They had a whole tank of fish that look like that tilapia/texas red guy there though, labeled OB peacocks. People like me can't tell the difference when they are half an inch in size : P
