I just picked up this new EBJD today and it was sold to me as a female, I think it may be a male though.. Can anyone else please help me confirm what it is...

It came from a local guy who breeds EBJD and I think he knows what he is talking about but it really looks like a male to me.. I also just picked up 25 blue gene jacks from him..

Thanks for any help anyone can give me with this..

Can't help but s/he is a beaut!

Thanks Quo Vadis... I loved it the second I seen it and knew I was not leaving without it!!!! I will post some better pictures once it settles in and gets the color back, I have never seen a EBJD with such bright blue color as this one had.. It looks stressed out now and lost most of it's color, can't wait for it to come back!!!

Anyone else know if it is male or female??? I would really appreciate any help anyone can give me

Super fish you have there, most of the EBJD's around where I am, are horribly deformed due to probable inbreeding.

Regarding the sex, the fins look pointed, and the head is quite big, which suggests male to me; but I wouldn't put money on it, venting is the way to go.

Thank you... I really liked it myself when I seen it, it has gotten some of the color back but still nothing like it was when I first seen her... I can't wait for it to settle in and get full color back!!

I really don't know how to vent a fish because I have never done it before, I think I will just put it in with some males and females to see if it will pair off with someone.. Thank you very much for the help and reply!!!

In order to vent a fish one must....

-Capture/net the specimen
-place fish on damp towel or grab with wet hands(be gentle)
-Invert the fish
-observe genitalia

Im too lazy to post links or pics but a quick google image search will show you what your looking for.

Yeah I have seen video of how to do it but have never tried... It just seems wrong to me to touch my fish down there.. LOL... And I hate taking them out of the water, It's like someone holding us under water to take are clothes off to see what sex we are!! LOL....

But thank you very much for the help and advice..
