thats not that much nitrate. Higher than i like to keep mine. You should rinse some of your media in tank water. Do a few large water changes. What is your filtration? Sometimes cannisters turn into nitrate factories, I always rinse the media in one of my fx5 every month. roatating between the two

As some of u may know I've had problems with my bass eating just tested water an ammonia an nitrites are 0. But nitrates ate through the roof at like 40 ppm. What do I do an what happened is this why the a couple arnt eating ??

Sent from my iPhone using MonsterAquariaNetwork app

So its higher then 40ppm i assume.... thats means ur tank reached its bioload meaning its time to change ur water!!

If u do a 50% change then u lowered ur nitrates by 50% as well.

That + gravel vac half ur substrate and ull be 10-20ppm.

Nitrates a fancy word for waste, get rid of waste lower ur nitrates

Test your ph it could have dropped causing the bass to stop eating

40 ppm Nitrate will have no immediate noticeable affect

But a large amount of waste could cause your ph to crash leading to BB die off and a mini cycle
