thats about the only way i can describe the way he is acting. when i first got him, and ever since he has not had much of an appetite. he is 11" and will maybe eat two to 5 hikari bio-gold pellets a day. i have given him frozen blood worms, and he actually goes for those but he eats so much of only the blood worms that now his poop is reddish and you can tell he has just been eating blood worms. i still give him pellets and he will rarely eat one.

lately he has just been laying on the bottom of the tank, fins down. sometimes he will perk up if i come near the tank but recently he wont, just keeps laying there. i have the tempeture at 80 and added some salt to it last night... just not alot of improvement.

i also for the first time in my tank keeping experience saw some what i beleive to be planeria or mosquito larve in his tank.

advice?

What size tank is he in? What filtration do you have? Water params? Any airation going in the tank?

he is in a 55 by himself. has a emperor 400 running on it with a sponge filter.

i lost my test kit a while back (i think the g/f threw away the box it was in) but i pull the water he is in dirrectly from one of my other tanks when i filled it to be sure it was already cycled along with using an established filter. i am probably going to end up buying a new test kit if i need to. just wondering if there was another way to tell what was going on so i could spend the money on treatment rather than testing

How long has the tank been running? I never place water from another tank into a new tank. You need to get a test kit. The fish could be suffering from ammonia or high nitrites or nitrates. Remember, the warmer your water the less disolved oxygen in the water. If you don't have some air stones or a bubble wand running you should probably add some.

the air line is running the sponge filter. does that not get oxegen into the water as well as a stone? i am about to go to the store and buy a new test kit. thanks though. ill post back up with updates when i have more info

The airline to the sponge filter will help but you should probably add another air stone.

ok... here are the parameters in his water...

nitrate - 25
nitrite - 0
GH - 130
clorine - 0
ammonia - 0
KH - 100
Ph - 8

and the situation is getting worse. today he is not even wanting to eat the frozen bloodworms he used to love. he will not come to the front of the tank anymore, just lays there. today for the first time i saw little white specks on him. im not for sure if they are ich or velvet, or perhaps just particles settling on him from not moving. i dosed the tank with coppersafe after seeing this.

could it be an internal parasite? if so, what would i treat with?

you could give him to me to have another polleni buddy. But see how he reacts to feeders i dont recomend always feders but that tends to get their predatory juices flowing.
