Hi all.

I have a 7 year old servum that seems to have gotten popeye… I took him out of my main tank (180G) and put him into a hospital tank (75) to treat... I been using Mardel Maracym two for the past 5 days (exactly as instructions described) . at 1st it looked a little better , but today ( after final treatment) he looks worse and it seems to have spread to other eye!

I removed all carbon from filter as well and haven't feed him in about 1 1/2 weeks (while I noticed his issue and been treating)

below are pics...

I don't want to lose this guy! ive had him 7+ years!... I am currently doing a 65% WC and will introduce Ep Salt (1 tb per 5g).. I don't know what else to do? any advice?? please help!

thanks so much

How often and how much water are you changing?

I’ve only delt with popeye once and not this severe. If I remember correctly I was doing fin level wc every other day and added salt once, but didn’t keep up adding more after the initial dose.

once WC was about 75% (yesterday) - today I did about 25% . that clear bubble sack popped. I am using (starting today) microbe-lift artemiss someone suggested to me.. (natural expellent for bacterial diseases)…

Best option is to find a fish vet and get the correct antibiotics (assuming it's a bacterial infection).

DIY options often fail due to incorrect choice of treatment, dilution by the volume of tank water, lack of absorption from the water, etc.
