my arowana i moved into my 125 a couple of days ago he wont eat he normally eats the pellets before they even hit the water now he swims to them and ignores them the water is 80.3 degrees i though it might be the water current do they like any current if so how much please help

he's probably just settling in. He's been moved to a new tank, and he's probably a little unsure of himself.

Just give him time. As long as he is otherwise looking healthy and swimming.
Keep track of your parameters and maybe add a little aquarium salt or Stress Coat to the water.

I think Ang's advice is really good. Give him some time before you start freaking out....hes got to get used to his new environment. If hes still acting funny after a couple days then I would start to worry.

You need to be patient, with both MFKers and your arowana.

We all have lives, were not just sitting at the computer all day waiting for fish questions to answer. BTW in the two months you've been here on MFK, how much help have you offered to anyone?

As for your silver aro, it just went through the shock of having it's whole world changed. It may take some time before it feels secure enough to feed again. The length of time will vary between fish. Best you can do is offer the food and then remove it if uneaten.

and keep the lights out and if possible keep any movement near the tank to as little as possible

My Jardini did the same thing, he didn't eat anything for a whole week when we first moved him to the 180g.. Actually we either couldn't find him (hiding) or he is just crashing into every single ornaments when the light is on...so I agree with headbanger_jib, keeping the light off until he is comfortable. Or like we say...until his fishy memory reboots and he forgets life in the past tank...lol

But there's not much to add to Ang's advice... Aros are famous for going on random hunger strikes...mine's doing it right now... so be patient.

I second that advice too. I got my silver one month ago. I did not find him eating for almost 4 weeks. Only once I saw him eat salmon but second time i put salmon in, he did not take it. I saw him eat pellets for first time today. But i do find some of my convicts missing. I saw him catch one convict this morning. he is really quick.
