HI, everybody.

I'm amateur fish keeper :( My friends didn't want the fish any more as it was a bit agressive to other fish. I decided to take it. And I'm kinda at a loss - don't know what to do, as my blue gourami seems to be sick. It's bloated. just in the area after gills, looks like it's struggling to swim up. it floats head down into the bottom front corner of the aquarium and hardly moves around. it doesn't eat anything either. What could it be and how to treat it? Could it be because of food? (I feed it Nido for tropical fish by Friskies and Plant flakes by Vitacraft). What shall I do? Hate to see he poor thing struggle.

Many thanks for any info!

what are your ammonia/nitrate/nitrite levels?? Does he have any other sign (other than the bloating) of sickness like white dots? What size tank? What size filter?

Gouramis can become more aggressive when kept single they should be kept in multiples. If the fish has bloat I would look to the water quality first. Bloats main cause. What other fish do you have? Whats the water parameters? Water temp?

Salt will help ease the bloat.

I lost my gourami to bloat he just developed it no other fish seemed to get sick just him, I tried to move him to QT tank but he only made it a few days.
