Please Help Stingray tail disintegrating?!?

My motoro stingray has never shed his spine, he even has had 2 poking out for sometime. It finally seemed like it was that time, but his after 3 days his spines haven't moved and the rest of his tail has been slowly peeling away. What is going on? There is a baby stingray in the tank as well, if the older motoro is sick I don't want him to effect the younger?? Please help.

Have you tested the water parameters - Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate? If so, what are the levels.

What size tank is that, and water change schedule?

What are his tank mates could also be from another ray chewing on him

i would say it could possibly be the younger ray munching on it! ive had a few pups that have taken chunks out of other rays
do you have a plec in there?? they can do near the same damage!
