I am in need of an upgrade. I will be setting up a 220gal. next weekend. I know that I want a Vieja Synspilus. My wife wants a Tex. (these two are not set in stone) Other than these two, what else would work? I would like a few good sized cichlids and dithers that would comfortably live in a 220 with minimal aggression. So what's the verdict? Please, stock my tank!

green terror veja argentae female festae jaguar i dont think the gt or argentae would be very aggressive and female jags are not as mean as the males and jags are just more terratorial so i think those are some cool fish you could choose from.

I like the idea of the Green Terror and Argentea, but I think I'm done with Jags. I've had a few over the years. I would like something different this time around. I also have a group of juvenile Festae that I'm trying to let pair off in a 120. But from many posts that I have read on here placing a pair with other fish would be a bad idea. I wouldn't want to seperate the pair (if there will be one). I guess I could put one of the unpaired ones in the 220. I appreciate the advice. I am all ears to any more ideas.

Maybe one of the less common parachromis species, like a red tiger motaguense, loiselli, or freidrichtstalli (sp.). A group of smaller growing cichlids like cutteri or sajica could be cool too. as far as dithers, I like silver dollars or tinfoil barbs. They are active, and get large enough to not get eaten by the big cichlids.

vieja would be nice... along with some red terrors too...

But what about Pleco! Exotic plecos would be perfect with vieja.... ;)

yups.. I would also add Geos as a possible candidate... But their might be some issues as Vieja are quite aggressive.. while Geos are... sorta on the passive side...

But cichlids and plecos work well UNLESS ITS A RED DEVIL... in which case DONT DO IT!!!!!
