Please help with Filter Media

I am getting ready to purchase an Eheim 2026 for my 55 gallon tank. I found a pretty good deal online (160 bucks) from Petsmart, and they obvioulsy sell the media seperatley.

I was told by someone on here that i should use 1/3 mechanical media like EhfiMech, 2/3 biomedia like EhfiSubstrat Pro.

When i go to the website, they sell this stuff by the litre. I have never owned nor operated a canister filter. Can anyone help me on how much volume to purchase of this stuff?

You can get better deals then that. I got two 2028 eheims full of media for 175 from the LFS.

There are no stores near Kansas City that carry Eheim products. Closest one is St. Louis. Too far to drive.
 
So any suggestions on how to buy this stuff?

Yeah well you obviously have the internet ..............................order the 2026 or 2028 (bigger & better) from http://www.bigalsonline.com/like i did and i got like $100 of media free...the good eheim stuff..................shipped right to your door and even for free shipping during certain promotional times.....oh and order on wednesdays......double points................:headbang2:D :D
