Not 100% sure if this is mycobacterium or I’m confusing this for something else (a proper ID and treatment would be very appreciated) but I believe that my rainbowfish and flowerhorn have mycobacterium as My rainbow has developed these red lesion type things on both sides (worse on the right) aswell as my Flowerhorn which only has it on one side the scales are red and look almost as if they were torn off and skin like but if looked at from the back (tail) it’s as if the scales are raised. Ive had problems with this specific rainbow about a year before (velvet/film on his side and swimming around in circles) but he bounced back after a couple treatments. He still eating and acting normal (same with the flowerhorn) but after a few searches could this be Mycobacterium!? Flowerhorns tank: Temp: 83, Ammonia: 0, nitrate: 0.5, nitrite: 0 pH: 7.5, the rainbows tank is the same just temperature is about 76. I’ve already started running a dose of API aquarium salt and melafix, but I’m not sure if this will help at all any help would be appreciated thanks!.

Any chance you can stick a picture up of the flowerhorn I have had a similar issue with my flowerhorn and wondered if it's the same thing. Is so I have managed to fix it with daily water changes and a change in diet. (to better quality food)

Lights were turned off so she was freaking out but It looks like her scales may have just been an injury that’s healing (it was a lot worse 2 days ago)

Yeah your right it dose look like that did it develop into a fleshy type lump or did it just stay a white mark on her side.

Not sure if you can see it in the picture but this is what I mean on my flower horn it was a lump so to speak didn't last for more than a few days /week at most

Yea when she first got it, it was very red and looked a bit lifted like that but more of a red colour but it’s now pretty much gone down and healed.

I'll keep my fingers crossed it's at the end and there will be no more.

As I say I sorted mine out with regular water changes and an improved diet and he's been fine since (touch wood).

It looks like we have the same species of flowerhorn?

The flowerhorn has pretty much healed I think it was just an injury from a rock, now it’s just about what’s happening with the Rainbowfish.
Oh good I'm glad to hear she's doing better, I don't keep rocks in with my fella for that reason just a few plants.

In the first month of having him he took a chunk out of his head swimming into a rock.

Hopefully some one will come along who will be able to help better.
