Need a picture to be able to tell anything. I've never heard of that common name but xingu I are often called orange pikes so it could be the same thing. Look up pics of juvinile xingu I and see if it looks the same as what you saw.

I would agree. Never heard of gold pike but, I have been searching the net like crazy since I read this and all I can think is juvi xingu I.
 
Fish stores like to use common names so you don't know what you're getting, and if you ask what species the fish is they're usually clueless.
 
id say its most likely a saxatilis pike. i always seem to see all sorts of different common names for the different species. and they really dont mean anything.

would need a pic to confirm species
