I moved my 10" pacu into a temporary tank while I go ahead and clean the big one. After I caught him in the net and set him into the temporary tank (filled with the same water as his normal tank) he immediately rolled onto his side and is swimming almost upside down. is there anything I can do to reduce the stress he is going through or to reduce the stress of when I have to move him back into the big tank?

Thanks

i usually clean it but i dont usualy take him out. I am just re doing the layout of the tank and needed the fish out since I am going to be stirring up a lot of sand and filth.

Hi,yes your fish is stressed by being removed from its tank and being placed in a new ambient, give him some time that he will become normal once again.

135 gallons. the temporary one that it was placed into was 110gal. he is back and acting normal but he did have me worried for a bit. thanks guys.

glad to hear he is okay.. they are very emotional.. beautiful fish

I put mine in a camp cooler for temporary housing once. They have good lids that can be latched to keep the pacu in there.

I will need to temporarily (1-2 hours) house them again soon. I am not sure they will fit in a camp cooler any more.

Please try to get a bigger tank as soon as possible. A 135 really is going to stunt that beautiful fish.

Don't worry, there is a 220 in his near future. thanks for the input, I used to use a large cooler too but it became too small so I moved the holding tank to a rubbermaid pond...
