Hey everyone
My aro is about 13''..few days back he started to bite his tail..and now he has lost his appetite by more than 50% day before yesterday i fed him 4 feeder fish which were carefully selected and he ate all 4 of them in a single night..previously i used to feed him hikari food sticks..but after this tail problem he refused to eat...sometimes he does eat few sticks but not like he used to eat before..i have attached few latest pics of his tail..there are no tankmates and he is quite active...please help me out..and sorry for crappy picture quality..Thanks 24062012164.jpg24062012166.jpg24062012168.jpg

Not an expert on arowana but the last silver I kept, it did the same thing and I get it to heal back and kept the tail from infection by putting aquarium salt in the tank.

hope the experts can put some input for this since I really want to know as well.

Good Luck

Pristine water conditions is all that is needed for the tail to heal. If open wounds I would dose daily with pimafix and melafix along with 50% daily water changes.
To help prevent the tail chaisng and biting add lots of current and lots of floating plants. You basically have to try to keep the arowana from seeing it's tail. Most will generally grow out of this once older.
