Have you tested your water?
No
If I did not test my water...
  1. ...I recognize that I will likely be asked to do a test, and that water tests are critical for solving freshwater health problems.
Do you do water changes?
Yes
What percentage of water do you change?
11-20%
How frequently do you change your water?
Every month

My flowerhorn Frank is having problems. He got stuck under a log in an (L) shape overnight I assume. I found him in the morning. He cannot stay upright and swims in a circle the position he was bend/stuck in.
I thought maybe muscles/sprains? But now 14 hours later since I found him his color is very pale. He is still lively and attempts to interact when called etc but he Appears to be slowly dying.

temp87°f
120gal tank
Water parameters are good, I dont have any equipment I have to pick more test up.
filter is a fluvual canister. Water smells earthy just as usual.

anyone have suggestions or know of what is or may be wrong?
I just added aquarium salt.

He is usually dark orange and bright yellow, he is so pale right now.
He is laying sideways right now, he is unable to go upright.
Should I keep him propped up in a better area?

he has been propped up in a 6” wide x 12” long x 8” high hanging basket that is in the water close to the surface. A local fish store said to let him try and work it out on the bottom as it’s probably a muscle thing.
he was almost full color 4 hours ago, now he is very pale. He was in the basketsince I found him stuck 14 hours ago.
he is resting on the bottom for the night. Keeping him propped up didn’t seem to help any or maybe prolonged the inevitable?
my friend I bought him for has been crying all day. He is displayed in a 120gal at her restaurant, (tank has had a blanket on to keep stress down)
I’m so sad for her :(
I don’t think he is going to make it and have no idea how to help anymore.
He Frank can be held and petted by her and often comes up for (pets) and treats.

Frank’s wife Charlotte was trying to keep him propped up, but she’s been in her log hide over 12+ hours now (since I put him in the basket)

Maybe an injury to it’s swim bladder. If traumatic then time will eventually heal it if it survives. keep the water pristine and monitor. If you think it’s not gonna make it then can get a bucket with tank water and add a few drops at a time of clove oil to euthanize the fish. Monitor its gills till it stops moving. Sorry about your fish.

Thank you for responding, idk if he will make it or not. Color fading has me worried. Water is excellent quality, I hope he survives. There’s nothing more to do then wait until morning I guess.
