I got these guys for real cheap but i think they were sold to me under the wrong name. Wholesale guy told me one was a Golden Head Calvus and the other a Black Calvus. I knew neither was black but still a good deal. I looked them up but i cant decide the species for myself.

Calvus or Compressiceps and Color Morph?

no first one is a calvus im almost positive. he looks like the one in the link. im just confused on the second one. how come the first one doesnt have all those white ink spots. is this only juvie?
 
I would think the first is a Calvus and the second a comp but it is hard to tell. It may take along time to truly find out(very slow growing)
 
here are some better pics. i think its final though. white ones a calvus and the tan looking one is a comp. just waiting for someone to step in and save my day. (i dont want a comp)

The new set of pics help a lot. In the second set the first one is a gold head Comp. Look at the shape of it's mouth, it's angled more towards the ceiling. The second pic is a Calvus. It's mouth is more horizontal.

Personally, I would be very excited to have both fish. They look great!!! :headbang2:headbang2:headbang2
