Please ID Columbian collected Hoplias in photo

I'm not the resident Hoplias ID expert, so I'm asking some of you who are more knowledgeable of these fish to ID this big boy.

Yes, it could be imported and for sale if you are seriously interested!

Maybe a sp. black wolf? There seem to be a few of these turning up from time to time in the hobby. How big is she?

Im thinking parhaps a regional variant of Hoplias. Sp 'BLACK'

Im sure that Channarox or another member can give a better Identification

Yes it is Hoplias Sp. Black. It is in my opinion the same fish described as Sp. Xingu Black. I think they are quite well distributed.

There seem to be two 'Black wolves' There is a larger one that looks a bit more stocky in build but doesn't have the high arched back. The larger ones are reported to reach the high 20"s, The Xingu's are relatively small 13" is a good size for a captive one.

One of my favourites. I have one. I would love another. They are a bit pricey though.

i think there are actually quite a few variants of black wolf....

I like it, I don't think it's a mala. i aggree on maybe a black variant, and it is sweet!
