Hi, what kind of Flowerhorn is this? I inherited him from someone else. Will his Kok grow big? Is he rarer than normal?

maybe a zz or rd thai silk cross, he looks big so id say not much kok growth interesting kok shape though, looks a little stressed too...

He's about 6-7 inches. He was side by side with another FH in a separated tank when I took the picture. I might re-home him if he doesn't have much potential.

Yeah invest in a new one, he has bad fins and kok is hard kok "slow growing" and If your gonna spend the time and money I'd get a new on. plus its nice to have a good young fish... not trying to bash your fish though its original thats for sure but not of good quality in my opinion good luck, look at some kamalau, kamfa, or red dragon you may find a fish you like

Where did this guy come from? I have a few red dragon ti silk that I got here in Minnesota from a local breeder. It could be from that batch. If it is, The red dragon male it came from had a big kok! It could even be a female, the females off the red dragon I am thinking of had kok.

All depends on how it has been cared for so far. If previous owner took great care of it then yeah it doesn't have much more potential for kok growth but if not then with good food, water changes and some tlc he could be very nice. Also, It depends if you like the fish or not.

yeah shape is all wrong for monster kok but might do a little growing get him some chingmix or somethin for head boosting

Best comment yet!

Just have some patients and grow him out. Most of the ZZ on here don't have nearly the pearling that he does. He will look way different than he does now with 4-5 more inches of growth. It also has a nice roundish body shape. The fins will grow in better as he ages. Tell me if you know if he is from Minnesota or not, I will be able to maybe post up some pictures of the parents and siblings.

Thanks for the tips. I'm not sure where he's from, but I'm curious to see the parents if you have pictures handy!

There is a real high chance he is out of this batch.
