This is my Gar can someone identify it?

either florida or spotted....... im not for sure but i would say florida. nice gar though.
 
I thought the longer and skinnier nose was a Spotted Gar. I'm comparring it to all the other pics you guys and girls are calling Florida Gars. Plus his gills are real close to his eyeballs.

the gills-eyes distance thing doesn't hold true in smaller individuals and doesn't appear to hold true with moderately large individuals either...just inaccurate info that has been perpetuated from a lot of sites (several fishing sites have this info) and no one really bothering to check.

the snout on a spotted is longer and narrower, but this is relative. a young Florida gar (like the one pictured here) will also have a slender snout, but as the fish grows it will broaden and be more like some of the fish we have previously ID'd on the site--

yup, still a juvenile, could easily be only a year old. males will take around 3-5 years to mature, females 5 or more in most cases...so many of the gars that you see around this size range are only about a year old--
