i don't know how to know the sex of them, but I named mine Bruce (from Bruce Dickinson - Iron Maiden vocals).

I have since lost the female but i still have the male (8 years old now) and you could still see the tiny protusion coming out of his vent, not sure what it is called, but it looks similar to what you would see in a male cichlid.
