hi mate , unfortunatly there is no reliable way of telling male from female , and even venting at the size of theese fish proves near impossable ,

however mostly males of the same age grow larger and are more colourfull , although i cannot be certain i am thinking you have two males there , and if they are the only two channa in there ,then that would explain the damage to one of them ( i.e fins )

only time will trully tell , are they spending a lot of time with each other or do they fight often , have you noticed any mock spawning at all ?

cheers col
