Aloha MFKers,

Could you please help me ID these fish. I was told they might be hybrids. I am picking these up tonight and I really want to know what they are.

Really interesting looking!!! They are about 7 inches.

True parrot cichlid getting a slow connection so im just guessing from second pic

they look like a true parrot fish.

$40 or more each. ive been searching for yeeeeaaarrs. they never have them here. aquabid usually has 3 acks of 3" for $120 or so. really nice looking.

Hoplarchus Psittacus aka True Parrots. No they are not hybrids and from what I can tell, unable to hybridize. They get fairly large and can be very aggressive so I hope you have the right setup for them.

Prior to finding these on CL, I have never seen these fish in a LFS. I traded three Columbian zebra plecos for the both of them!

Here are some pics!parrot1.jpgparrot2.jpg

Yes everybody else in this thread is correct...I hope they weren't kept in that tiny tank for very long...
They are not impossible to acquire here, but not incredibly common eithier. Just a fish you need to look abit around for.
