I bought this fish from pet HQ last week. It was labeled Parachromis Dovii however I don't believe that is correct. I think it may be a flowerhorn of some type or possibly a cross breed. It is highly aggressive and rounds up the other cichlids in the tank constantly. I had a flower horn for many years previously and this cichlid has very similar traits both physically and in it personality. It is very intelligent and can interact beyond the tank. Can anyone tell me what this is?

Looks like a midevil.
Thanks ill do some research. To be honest I've never even heard of that... do you know much about midevils? I've just removed this fish from my community tank as it has been reaping havoc on the other cichlids. I was wondering how this fish would go in a 3ft with a flowerhorn

I keep mine with flowerhorns they're fine they might breed though but your tank can't house one flowerhorn nor one Midevil.

Yes it is some type of amphilophus sp. Flower horns have a lot of amph blood in them so thay will behave similar to each other and will outgrow a 3ft tank. If you put it in with a flower horn they will most likely fight to the death. A dovii will grow to about 2ft in length so if it was as labeled, where would you keep it? Dovii are large aggressive cichlids as are amphilophus.

I would return the fish since it was labeled wrong you obviously wanted a dovii.

Like the comment above a dovii you need a 12 feet tank. I'm pretty sure a real dovii won't fit in the 3 foot tank..

This is a dovii...

lol that's an umbee and a 7ft 300g is plenty for a lone male dovii or umbee imo.... a 3ft tank is not.

Thanks for correcting me

Also if your planning on keeping the fish for a while please get at least a 125 gallon at least.

If you want a dovii get a 200 gallon tank then eventually something bigger when it outgrows it.

This is a damn dovii
