Please ID this fish....

I have no clue what these are. I thought they were a jewel cichlid, but my dad thinks they are JD's. Any info is appreciated.

Thanks! They were not labeled at the pet store but the fiance wanted them. They are pretty fun to watch so far though.

thats what i thought too, but I read that the juveniles are blueish/gray with the spots, so I figure thats my case.
