Looking at the wormy pattern on the face and what ive been told,,,,my verdict would be "Escondido". The Carpintis is a favorite to many members here, but due to the many varients already described in the hobby there is a high possiblity some1 will disagree. I have currently owned three varients (and my Escondido came from a highly reliable source) and this Carpintis closely show alot of the same markings as my Escondido.
Looks escondido to me, but its hard to tell with 'in the hand pictures'.
The worm like markings on the face are traits of the 'escondido' race as well as deep blue colouration. But 'Chairel' 'females' carry these facial markings too, unlike 'Escondido', their colouration is a lighter, somewhat Turqiose colour. Ive also found the 'Chairel' race to exhibit a golden, tint/reflection to their pearl markings too.
Is this the same fish from your previous thread?? Any chance of some pics of the fish in the tank??
Lovely specimen tho, looks like it needs a good feed tho.
I agree, looks like a male Escondido with the worming and red highlights. I would not call it that unless you have collection information though. There are a couple of other collections that look very similiar.
I would watch treat for parasites with it having that sunk in belly and start it on some good foods and a few feeding a day.
