please ID this payara

I have had several scombs that got ick and died with in a month or 2 and i have had this fish for a month and a half and it has a whole different attitude and is a very peaceful and shy fish. that is what lead me to think it may be a H.tat. I moved it to the feeder tank because after 3 weeks in the big tank i still had not seen him eat anything. I tried with lights on and off. I am not very good at IDing thses so please help me out. i will let you know a few things that you can not see in the pics. This fish has the black freckles on the lower jaw and he does not stand on his head like the scombs all did.

thats what i thought as well thanks for the reply. He is about 6-7inches and has grown around a inch since i bought it. Although i have not seen it eat anything. lol ---I have to admit that my scombs where alot cooler pred. to have but if i get the look and a tat last longer than i am happy. i just need to stumble across a few more at the lfs.
 
It's a Tat. Red tail is the dead give away but notice the orange adipose? It is similar to tail color and the black blotch bleeds into the red. On Armatus the line is cut and dry. No bleeding.
Tats always seem to have darker eyes than Armatus too.

looking at the pics again i have to say i have no idea what i was thinking. it a tat.

Def Tat. And a Tat with Ick. Add some salt to your tank for a few days... that should do the trick. If you want to see him eat, starve him for about 4 days and add a feeder and watch what happends when the feeder swims just above him:D
 
Teach me something. what tells you this fish has ick. As i am looking at him here in the feeder tank he does not show any signs of the white spots on the skin.
