is that a black spot on the gill plate? if so thats a cariba and a great find my LFS never has em
 
he has a spot behind the gills,they had him as a spilo p.but they also gave me a nice 6 inch black rhom on the deal.I dont think they know what they are getting in.
 
second look that the fish has red eyes, caribe has clear eyes.
it could be a p. nattereri (rbp) with a dark humeral spot, sometimes some nattereri and piraya has them too...let me see if I can look up some pix

thanks everybody for the info,the lfs here has a bunch of these in right now all around 6 to 7 inches.I think I'll grab a few more.they all seem to have quite a bit of red on them. I'll post some pics when I get them.
