My lfs has had this dwarf pike for a few months now and I want to know what it is....Is it worth 29.99? Pics are horrid, because he is uber small and their glass is stank......This was the best I could do :(

It is less than 2"....Not an adult whatever it is....

might be crenicichla cincta? is it stressed?

I would not know the level of stress, but he has been there a while and to me looked un stressed....

Its Crenicichla compressiceps for sure. Not quite an adult, but pretty much what its going to look like. The price is a little bit rediculous. But in all reality, its what you are willing to pay and how much you want the pike that really matters.

$30 for Cr. compressiceps is actually pretty average. I've seen them for as little as $15 and as much as $50. The $15 was for a single fish that the LFS was trying to get rid of.

At 2" it isn't going to get a whole lot larger so I would say that while technically it is not full grown, it is mature. It's a male... FWIW.

Thanks guys....I think I will pas on him...I NEED a real pike...lol

FWIW Scat (Mark) knows his stuff...:). Sorry, just had to use that....:).

Another thought, just cuz they are dwarfs doesn't mean they are any less of a pike. In all reality they are more so. There are plenty of dwarfs I would gladly snatch up in place for some of my larger pikes. :) Don't underestimate the little ones....:)

Not passing because it is a dwarf or you guys talked me out of it...I was hoping it was a little harder to find kind of fish you know?....It is super sexy....
