So my mim came home from waart with a catfish for me today. She said they didn't even know what it was and only paid five dollars for it. Here's a pic.

It is a Synodontis species. May be even genuine (as opposed to a hybrid) - I am judging from the caudal pattern that looks like no common hybrids have. Wait for a known syno expert to weigh in or browse Synos yourself. This is a very large genus though... and there are many look-alikes. The fact that the dorsal is completely missing will make it significantly harder to ID precisely. Still, do look to get some ideas.
