I'm not sure if my GT injured himself or is it HITH? It's right by his gills, under eye level, and colored white. He's behaving normally like nothing's wrong. Is there something I can do immediately or should I wait and see if he recovers or if it gets worse? I've been doing 30% water changes every 3-4 days for two weeks now for fry in the tank. I just did a wc yesterday. Temperature is on the high 70s.

I used my phone's camera for this but I hope it's clear enough.

looks like a missing scale, they usually self heal, but if it starts to fungus, then get worried.

Thanks! I hope he recovers well.

I'm a bit relieved :D

His lack of appetite has been a bit of a concern for me lately(very picky!).

How should I react if it does start to fungus?

Yeah it looks like a missing scale to me too. Keep the temp of the tank up to help cut down risk of infection and just let it recover. Keep up with the water changes and fungus probably wont be an issue. I know people that have cured fungus infection using pimafix. If you do need to use medications follow the directions exactly

I'm extra concerned because it's right by the glls so I really appreciate it and thanks for reassuring my worries of HITH!

I'll do my best to support his recovery.
