Hi, today i got a pacman frog, and a crocodile gecko.

Ive attached pictures.

Right now, my only concern is for the pacman frog, Is the enclosure it is in ok for it for now?
until it grows? and gets HUGE :D :headbang2

It has a shallow water dish in there, but the dirt is covering it. I used plastic plants,
I used plants leftover from aquariums, the plastic shouldn't harm its skin right? Not chemically, i mean like, scrap him, should I replace it with live plants? or am I being a bit crazy.

Tommorow, I'm gonna pick up some cricket dust/calcium dust. you can see its approximate size right now and its eating 1/4 inch crickets and i'm wondering if i could feed it mealworms that are about 1/2" long.

I'll feed him the same as I do my other reptiles right now, every other day.
He gets light from the herp tank beside him, tommorow i'll get him a small clip on light for the tank, just wondering about the bulb, flourescent ok? he doesn't need to bask really that'd just dry him out and evaporate everything fast and i don't want to mist him like 40 times a day, just 3-4.

Also, I didn't buy any moss, is the reptile soil he is in right now enough for him?

I love both these new d00ds. Ive done my research, but i'm still being paranoid, i want to have em live for their full potential of time, and happily. lol.

OK NUFF TALKING check out the pics:

OH!!! P.S. this is to some people who read or posted in a thread I made a while ago
about an anole with abscess, he did survive my stupid treating him, and the abscess didn't come back, he is still happy and healthy, and eats well. I won't assume I removed it properly, BUT most people I talked to told me that I did it the right way, and they do it themselves rather then pay a vet to do it as well. Just letting you know it worked out :)

Long ass post eh?

The pacman setup is fine, u dont need anything in there except the dirt but the plastic plants will be fine, just makesure he dosent swallow one when eating, and they need no sort of special light so ur fine, and that size will do him for life, a little water dish, keep a spary bottle handy with stag water just to spary the enclosure down every now and then for humidity, lil water bowl, and you need a undertank heater, but no rush, its fine like i was saying all you reall need is enough wet dirt for him to burrow in, its fine, and about the meal worms, they can eat thing MUCH bigger than what you think so dont worry

Thanks a lot for the replies.

He does have a waterdish in there, you can only kind of see the edges.

I am aware they eat mice, but right now he is about 1 1/4" long, so pinkies would
be to big for him I think.

Is it ok if I put some feeder guppies into his water dish for him to eat until he is big enough for mice and other treats? I read they eat fish too.

Personally, I think a 10 gal tank would be about the size you'll eventually need for him. A friend of mine had one for 14years, and it was about 10inches wide, pretty hefty. I had an albine one for a year, and just recently passed, I couldn't figure out why. If a meal will potentially fit in it's mouth, mine would at least attempt. I was told to feed younger frogs every other day, while adults do better once a week. Mine ate mealworms, crickets, grasshoppers, pinkies, and anything that moved close to him. Just be sure to keep a shaded area, incase he gets too warm. Mine never did like to play in his water dish, but I've heard they'll eat guppies and other fish. Put a couple little fish in, and he'll eat if he's interested, which I assume he will be.

Although they seem to do fine withou any lighting, I strongly recommend getting a small heat mat of some kind for belly heat. Working in petstores for the past eight years, I've found that pacmans with no heat seem to succumb shortly after arriving in the store. I know the container you have him now isn't really heatmat-friendly, but I know they make lights for those keepers. Might wanna see about getting one.

check out the pacman video in the video lounge eating a live mouse, its so cool

WoW!!!! That video was intense! I might try feeding it a live mouse once when it is older, but i think im gonna go frozen just to protect the frog.
