South American or Dwarf puffers- the only problem that the Dwarf puffer is fairly small- only 1 in and can be temping to some community fish to eat- they are poisonous (as is are all puffers)

Well all puffers can be a bit nippy to be honest, just depends on each puffers individual personality, but i would agree with the above that SAP's are probably the best for a community tank... given you have a large enough tank to keep around 3 or more of them... also just be prepared to possibly have to do some dentistry on them, since they have been known to be prone to very fast growing teeth which some times need to be trimmed :)

Excellent articles on the SAP & step by step dentistry article in the Library of my pufferforum.

TFH did an article on the search for a peaceful puffer for community aquariums. Its in the December 2007 issue, its worth a look. In the end none are perfect but the SAP seems to be the best suited but the article discusses several brackish and freshwater species.

feed them small snails about the size of their eyes, crabs, crayfish, crushed clam/oyster. but i was just asking. my puffers teeth are good :) ill check out that article though im interested to know how to go about doing that and if its anything like trimming guinea pig teeth, but in water
