Dear fellow arowana lovers,

Recently in the last week my arowana which i have had for over a year and a half has decided to stop eating, stop swimming back and forth and now only stays on the top of one corner. Every so often he will flip out and start splashing water all of the place. It gets pretty intense since he is big guy. He has never done this before. He is in a 140 gallon tank with a stingray and alligator gar. Is this normal or is he sick? I have check the water parameters and everything is in check so far. Any advice would be extremely grateful.

Sincerely,

Dai

get a bigger tank?

big arowana in a 140 gallons with an alligator gar is already sound no good for me!

My alligator gar is only 5inches and my arowana is about 8inches, There is more than enough room in my current tank right now.

Your arowana should be well over 8inches if you've owned it for over a year and a half. More information would help: wc schedule, exact parameters, water temperature, what the aro was feeding on. To me it just sounds like your aro is stressed/spooked from something.

maybe he injured himself by trying to jump outta the tank & hit hard on the aquarium canopy
