One is if he starts spawning with any females you have in the tank and you catch them in the act.
The other would be by venting him, that would be one of he most acurate ways to tell the sex. Here is some info on venting and some pics to help if you decide to try and vent it.

Mate I keep and breed Frontosa here in Australia and I have had a conciderable amount to do with the Frontosa 'Kigoma'. I would say that you almost certainly have a male there [and a good looking sort of guy too] there is one other way that I find is a reasonable indicator as to the sex of a Frontosa and that is the fact that the males tend to be somewhat hollow in appearance around the gut region. The female tends to have a more rounded appearance.
I will post a couple of pics of my Cyphotilapia sp. giberosa 'Tanzanites' shortly and they will show you what I mean.
Vent sexing is about the best way to sex your fish though but please remember that even this is not falible.
Cheers

I believe for sure that it is a male, female don't have hump on their head near far out as their lips as males do. I have 3-4fontosas(Sorry... i forgot exactly ho many fontosas i got because i got so many fishes!) I have two males for sure. the males are more darker color than the females.
